Mazda CX-5 Global Reaches One Million Units

Mazda Motor Corporation announced that cumulative production of the Mazda CX-5 surpassed one million units at the end of April 2015. Mazda CX-5 was launched into the growing global crossover SUV market in February 2012 as a new core model for the Mazda brand. It has since won more than *60 different awards around the world as of April 2015, including the prestigious Car of the Year Japan in 2012-2013.

Mazda’s Managing Director, David Hughes said, “The new-generation Mazda CX-5 has proven very popular among South African customers since the re-launch in October 2014. With the introduction of the 2015 Mazda CX-5, we have seen continued sales success. One million units produced in only three years and five months is an inordinate milestone and we are excited about what the future holds for the Mazda CX-5.”
